It's Been Ages and Ages

A pitch down the street from our house belonging to a private school.

I know, I know I've been absolutely horrible at updating this blog but I am back and going to make it a point to stay on top of it. A lot has happened since I last posted and I will give a quick rundown of what has taken place.

Allan came to visit me in November and we were married at the Justice of the Peace. One of my best friends, Meg, was there to take photos. It was a really nice short and sweet ceremony. We didn't have anyone there because we want to have celebration with everyone at a later date, as to not leave anyone out. We also applied for my settlement visa to the UK while he was visiting. We had a great time while he was visiting me. We thought that I would be there for Christmas so we were OK with being separated for a little bit.

Unfortunately, it took a lot longer for my visa application to be processed as all of my friends and family are aware of. The British Consulate was backlogged because of the holidays and I managed to hit pretty much every holiday. The wait was excrutiating because I had given up my job and my apartment and was away from Allan. Luckily, I have amazing friends and family that were really supportive and helpful in anyway possible. Meg and Rebecca let me stay at their places while I waited which was absolutely amazing and I am just so grateful for them. The extra time also allowed me to tie up loose ends and really get to spend some quality time with everyone.

My visa finally arrived at the tail end of January. I was able to get a flight out of Austin to Heathrow on February 8th thanks to Ryan. He was a dollface and totally hooked it up..... I got to fly Business Class which rocked! It was my first time flying in a premium class overseas. I wish I could fly like that all of the time. When i arrived at Heathrow, Allan was a little late at picking me up which was totally understandable because I got in so early and the rush-hour traffic was horrendous, especially adding rain on top of it all. But he greeted me with flowers and when I arrived at our new home he had 'Welcome Home' ballons and banners throughout the house. Just sooooo frickin' adorable.

I have adjusted quite nicely to living here. I love that I am finally reunited with my hubby and just being here in general. I absolutely love London, it is by far one of my favourite cities in the hole of the world. The only hard part that I am encountering is finding a job. As we all know there is a recession here as well so it is making the job search that much more challenging. I am also finding that the very good and stable positions within the public sector and with universities have these excrutiatingly long application processes that take around 2-3 hours to finish. It's like being back in school again and having to write a term paper. Applying for jobs is a full-time job without any pay which sucks. I do miss my family and friends tremendously but I really am just so happy to be here.
